Face Up 21
Match Play 21
Blackjack + Perfect Pairs
When it comes to online card and table games, few compare to the popularity of Online Blackjack. South African players enjoy its mix of strategy, luck, and fast-paced fun, experiencing the thrill of a land-based casino from the comfort of home.
How to Play Black Jack
Most experienced players can dive directly into the game and begin playing online Blackjack immediately. On the contrary, those who are new to the game, or haven’t had a chance to hone their skills, can do so by first learning how to play. The basic mechanism is pretty easy, making it one of the most approachable card games you’ll find.
The object of the game is to get closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. The number cards 2-10 are worth their face value. Face cards are worth ten and the Ace is worth one or eleven. Once a bet is placed, the player is dealt two cards face up and the dealer is dealt two cards, one face down and one face up. If the player is dealt a two-card hand of 21 (a Black Jack), they win automatically, but the same goes for the dealer. If neither hand has a value of 21, the game moves forward.
The player can choose to stand, making their final hand, or hit, receiving another card. If your hand goes over 21, you “bust” and the dealer wins. When you feel that your hand is strong enough to beat the dealer’s showing card and facedown card, stand, and the dealer will flip their cards, hitting if they have a soft 17, or standing if they have a hard 17 or better. If the dealer busts, they lose. If the dealer stands with a lower hand value than the player, they lose. The payout for a standard hand is 1 to 1, and a payout for a blackjack is 3 to 2.
When you receive your first two cards, you also have the choice of the Double Down or the Split. With the Double Down, you place an additional wager equal to your original and receive one additional card, making your final hand. If you have a pair of cards of the same value, you can split them into two separate hands, with an additional bet required to cover the additional hand. Both hands can win independently.
Those who aim to become pros should also look into Black Jack strategy methods. Learning and applying basic strategy can lower the house edge, likely resulting in larger wins and payouts.
Online Blackjack Variations at Midas ZA
One of the unique and exciting characteristics of online casinos, and in particular Casino Midas, is that a number of different variations of each game are offered to players. Online Blackjack is one of the casino card games that offer players one of the largest numbers of variations, and due to its very long history and evolution, different rules and variants have developed around the world. For example, we offer Spanish, American, and even Super 21 Blackjack. The games follow the same general rules as the original, but small differences can make all the difference. The more you can choose from, the more you can switch things up and keep the excitement of the game fresh.
Besides the classic version, our South African players will be able to play:
In Pontoon, the dealer is dealt two facedown cards, and the object of the game is the same, though 2 to 1 payouts are won for Blackjack (Pontoon in this case) and for five-card hand wins. You can double down after you hit, and hit after you double down as well.
Face Up 21
In Face Up 21, both of the dealer’s cards are dealt face up, adding an advantage to the player. House edge is evened out by limiting when you can double down and having the dealer win on all ties, including Blackjack, but the even money Blackjack payout is an exciting prospect.
In Super 21, you can double down at any time, Black Jack pays even money, and you can surrender at any time. On top of that, Bonus Hands pay out 2 to 1, and six-card hands win automatically.
Match Play 21
Match Play 21 uses decks with the 10-cards removed, giving the house a higher advantage, but players come for the insane bonus payouts. Different combinations can result in 3 to 2, 2 to 1, 3 to 1, and whopping 40 to 1 payouts!
With Perfect Pairs, the rules of Blackjack are exactly the same. The only addition is the inclusion of the “Perfect Pairs” side bet. A mixed pair pays 6 to 1, a pair in the same colour pays 12 to 1, and a pair in the same suit pays 25 to 1!
In European Blackjack, the dealer is only dealt one card rather than two. The player can receive the card that would have otherwise been given to the dealer, and have the chance to build a hand of 21 before the dealer can have a blackjack. A caveat is that you can only double on hard a 9, 10, or 11.
These are only some of the many variations available in our lobby. The options keep growing, too, giving players a chance to spice up their online casino playing experience at a moment’s notice.
